Surface Prep & Finishing

Dedicated surface prep equipment and two powder coat lines with AAMA 2604 and 2605 ratings, straight from the machining cell without leaving the building.

Finishing line, powder coat and inspection

Finishing runs on two powder coat lines. The batch line handles mild steel and long-length products. The conveyor line handles smaller parts and all aluminum and stainless small-part flow. Coatings are available in AAMA 2604 and AAMA 2605 grades, 2605 is the premium architectural-grade finish with long-lasting resistance to fade, chalk, and crack.

Surface prep runs upstream of the powder coat lines. A Lissmac wide belt deburrs and removes mill scale. A Ramco wide belt puts a linear grain on stainless. An Apex flat finish sander handles deeper surface refinement on stainless and aluminum.

Surface preparation

Powder coat

  • Batch line: mild steel and long-length products; booth fits parts up to 25 ft (full stair stringer diagonal)
  • Conveyor line: smaller parts, aluminum and stainless
  • AAMA 2604: standard commercial-grade coating
  • AAMA 2605: premium architectural-grade, fade, chalk, and crack resistant
  • RAL, Pantone, or custom color match available
  • Anodizing available through our finishing partner

Curing

  • Multiple cure methods available depending on substrate and coating spec
  • Oven profiles are logged and held to spec for every run
  • Process parameters locked at first-article and maintained through production

Quality process

First-article qualification

Color, gloss, film thickness, and adhesion targets are established from your spec or reference sample and locked to your job record.

In-line process monitoring

Bath chemistry, oven profiles, and film thickness are logged continuously. Out-of-range readings stop the line before parts are affected.

Final inspection & traceability

Each batch is inspected, lot-coded, and packed to your spec. Records are retained and available on request.
